PEORIA, Ill. — Woodford County reached 500 COVID-19 cases on the same day it saw its ninth COVID-related death.
Peoria City/County Health Department said Tuesday a man in his 90s who lived at Heritage Health in El Paso passed away. He did have comorbidities.
With Tuesday’s reported death, 104 people in the area have died from coronavirus complications.
The county also reported one new active case, bringing its total of positive tests since the start of the pandemic to 500.
Peoria County recorded 38 new cases and Tazewell had 31, for a total of 70 new tri-county cases.
Area hospitalizations jumped from Monday’s 66, to 85 on Tuesday.
37 of the 85 hospitalized patients were in intensive care.
Recovery rate for the tri-county remained just below 86%.
