PEORIA, Ill. — The intersection of Sheridan and McClure was closed early Monday morning after a crash in Peoria that happened just before 4 a.m.
Peoria Fire Battalion Chief Michael Hughes said the car was traveling at a high rate of speed before hitting a building, then took out a light pole across the street.
“The passenger of the vehicle was removed. I’m not sure if she removed herself, or if she was removed by officers,” Hughes said.
The driver of the car was entrapped inside.
“Firefighters had to take the top off the vehicle to get to the driver,” Hughes said.
Both occupants were transported by AMT to a local hospital with what were described as serious injuries. Their conditions were not available.
The intersection of Sheridan and McClure was closed for several hours for accident investigation.
