PEORIA, Ill. – Peoria Police have released info regarding a third suspect in connection with a Sept. 5 murder.
A 17-year-old male was arrested Friday by U.S. Marshals in Atlanta, Georgia, making him the second juvenile to be charged in the killing of 21-year-old Terrence Dunigan, of Peoria.
He was taken into custody and was awaiting extradition to Peoria.
A warrant for his arrest had been issued Sept. 29 for first degree murder and a $1 million bond.
Because of his age, his identity will not be released.
Two suspects were already in Peoria Police custody. One of them was a 16-year-old male, while the other was 19-year-old Talya Zolicoffer.
Emergency crews were called at approximately 6:20 p.m. the night of the incident to an apartment complex in the 3300 block of W. Woodhill Lane on reports of an unconscious male.
Firefighters first on the scene found the male in full arrest and requested police.
“They attempted resuscitation, they were unsuccessful unfortunately, and he was pronounced deceased at the scene,” said Peoria County Coroner Jamie Harwood.
Upon autopsy, Harwood said Dunigan suffered a gunshot wound to his side and died instantly.
