WASHINGTON, D.C. — President Donald Trump could be released from the Walter Reed Military Medical Center in Bethesda, Maryland as soon as Monday.
Illinois 18th Dist. Congressman Darin LaHood has said it’s disheartening that the president, with daily testing for COVID-19 at the White House, still contracted the virus.
“Obviously there are protocols in place. Do I think the president followed them correctly, maybe not,” LaHood said.
LaHood told WMBD’s “The Greg and Dan Show” that there has been a lack of transparency since the president and the First Lady tested positive.
“This is not something that he wanted to have happen. But, I think he needs to set the example for the rest of the country, and show us what we need to be doing,” LaHood said.
LaHood believes the American people want to know the truth about the president’s condition and how he got COVID.
Illinois 17th Dist. Congresswoman Cheri Bustos attended the presidential debate in Cleveland, Ohio last week in support of Democrat Joe Biden.
Bustos told WMBD’s “The Greg and Dan Show” that the event was highly regulated. Attendees were told to socially distance, wear a mask and wear a wrist band that showed they had tested negative for COVID-19 before they were allowed to enter the auditorium.
Bustos said there hasn’t been enough transparency about the president’s health since he was transported on Marine One to the hospital on Friday.
“There have been such conflicting reports, we don’t know what is true. Whether it’s coming from the Chief of Staff or the physicians, it’s been conflicting,” Bustos said.
10 people who attended the confirmation of President Trump’s Supreme Court nominee Amy Coney Barrett have since tested positive for COVID-19.
Bustos said masks were not required at the event at the White House and people were gathered too close together.
