PEORIA, Ill. — A Peoria County woman in her 40s became the latest area casualty of coronavirus, after passing away during the Wednesday-Thursday reporting period.
The woman did not live in a long-term care facility, according to the Peoria City/County Health Department.
Peoria County has, as of Thursday, seen 48 deaths related to COVID. Adding in the totals from Tazewell and Woodford, the tri-county was up to 83.
“That 83 deaths to date is nine additional ones from the previous week,” said Health Administrator Monica Hendrickson.
Tazewell had the most new cases of the three, with 30. Peoria had 26, while Woodford added three.
“Since last week, we’ve seen an 8% increase overall in terms of our number of cases,” Hendrickson said.
“The tri-county’s seven-day daily average is around 61. That means in any given day this past week, we’ve been averaging 61 new cases,” she explained.
“Our 14-day average is very close, at 66.”
The area’s recovery rate remained just about 82%.
61 of Thursday’s active cases were in hospitals. 15 of the 61 cases were at the level of intensive care.
