CHICAGO — A member of Gov. J-B Pritzker’s staff has tested positive for COVID-19.
According to a release from the Pritzker’s office, that staffer tested negative during weekly testing last Wednesday, but tested positive on Monday after experiencing symptoms.
Pritzker and close contacts will self-isolate for the next two weeks as a precaution.
That staffer attended events with the governor last Wednesday in Chicago, Thursday in Marion and Sunday in Marseilles.
Both Pritzker and the staff member were wearing masks during all of their interactions.
The staffer has been interviewed and contact tracing has begun, according to a press release.
Event organizers at each impacted event have been made aware of the staff member’s positive result as well as given appropriate next steps.
All staff who report to Pritzker’s office are being tested and must test negative before they can report back to work.
All samples run on Monday came back negative for COVID-19, according to the governor’s office.
