PEORIA, Ill. — A man who had underlying conditions contracted COVID-19 and passed away between Monday and Tuesday, according to the Peoria City/County Health Department.
The man lived in Tazewell County, was in his 80s at the time of his passing, and did not live in long-term care.
This marked the tri-county’s 80th death related to COVID.
Peoria, Woodford, and Tazewell combined for a relatively low amount of new cases during the reporting period, with 49. Peoria accounted for 32, Tazewell had 16, and Woodford reported one.
The amount of local hospitalizations related to the virus on Tuesday remained where it was as of Monday, at 61. 15 of Tuesday’s 61 were in need of intensive care.
The area’s recovery rate was 81.5%.
