PEKIN, Ill. — A 19-year-old Pekin mother is in jail after the death of her 11-month-old daughter, according to news partner 25 News.
The mother, Angel Vanduker, now faces involuntary manslaughter charges after the affidavit of probable cause outlines the actions investigators say resulted in the death of Vanduker’s baby.
The affidavit says Vanduker was “frustrated and tired and had attempted to get the baby to lay down with her on the couch.”
Vanduker then put a blanket around the child and held her tightly to her chest with her hand behind the baby’s head for several minutes, until she stopped squirming, according to investigators.
Information in the affidavit says Vanduker performed an act likely to cause death.
The baby died after being removed from life support on Thursday.
An autopsy found the cause of death to be suffocation.
