PEORIA, Ill. — Peoria and Tazewell Counties between Saturday and Monday combined for five COVID-19 deaths and, with Woodford County mixed in, 184 new cases.
The two deceased Peoria County residents were females in their 80s. One was a resident of Apostolic Christian Skylines, while the other lived at Generations of Peoria.
Of the three Tazewell residents who died, two lived in long-term care facilities. One was a female in her 60s who lived at Aperion Morton Villa, while the other was a female in her 80s who resided at Generations at Riverview in East Peoria.
A male in his 70s who died was not associated with any nursing facility.
Peoria was responsible for the highest amount of new cases, with 93. Tazewell reported 86, while Woodford accounted for five.
61 people as of Monday were in area hospitals with the virus, down slightly from Friday’s 63. 15 of the 61 patients were in intensive care.
The area’s recovery rate remained healthy, at just about 81%.
