PEORIA, Ill. — A burst of 109 COVID-19 tests between Tuesday and Wednesday came back positive throughout Peoria, Woodford, and Tazewell Counties, and yet another person has died.
The Peoria City/County Health Department reported a Woodford man in his 90s who lived in an unspecified long-term care facility was the county’s sixth coronavirus casualty. The department reported the man had comorbidities.
His was the area’s 65th death, overall.
Of the area’s 109 new cases, Peoria County accounted for 69; Tazewell, 33; and Woodford, seven.
55 tri-county residents were in hospitals because of the virus. 20 of the hospitalized cases were in intensive care.
The recovery rate for the area sat at just under 77%.
