SPRINGFIELD, Ill. — The state of Illinois’ preliminary seven-day statewide positivity rate has fallen below 4%.
The Illinois Department of Public Health (IDPH) announced Thursday that the rate from Sept. 3 – 9 is 3.8%.
In the last 24 hours, laboratories have reported 48,982 specimens and have now collected a total of 4,575,721.
IDPH announced 1,953 new cases of COVID-19 Thursday, including 28 additional deaths.
IDPH is reporting a total of 255,643 cases, including 8,242 deaths.
Of the 1,609 people in Illinois hospitalized with the virus, 346 are in the ICU and 141 are on ventilators.
