PEKIN, Ill. — Although it will look a little different this year, Pekin’s annual Marigold Festival will go on this weekend.
Pekin Chamber of Commerce Executive Director Amy McCoy told WMBD’s Greg and Dan Show, they’ve adapted every event to socially distance and keep everyone safe.
“The parade, for example, is a drive-thru parade. Kind of a reverse situation with the exhibitors being stationary and the spectators driving through Mineral Springs Park,” McCoy said.
McCoy said there will be goodie bags for the first 100 cars to go through the parade route.
The Marigold Festival Parade is scheduled for 9-11 a.m. Saturday.
McCoy said the festival’s Food Court will also be a drive-thru this year, moved to the parking lot of the First United Methodist Church across from the hospital.
“Drive through, place your order, pull around and pay at one location. All of our food vendors are from non-profit organizations, so we really wanted to work hard to be able to keep them,” McCoy said.
