PEORIA, Ill. — Heartland Health Services and the Peoria Police Department’s PPD Resource Center have partnered up for a mobile food pantry event in the East Bluff.
The drive-thru pantry on Wednesday, September 9, will be located at 2301 N. Wisconsin Avenue, beginning at noon.
“We are going until all of the food has been given out. So, we are envisioning maybe we’ll be done by 2:00, but it could be sooner depending on the turnout,” said Heartland Health’s Makenzie Roman.
Roman said they envision the food pantry being a recurring event.
“We are looking to do these more in the future, maybe even on a monthly basis. Especially with COVID going on, we see a lot of need for it right now, even in our patient database” Roman said.
Individuals and families will receive boxes of food, COVID-19 PPE materials and educational materials from community-based organizations including: Hult Center for Healthy Living and Goodwill Industries of Illinois.
Heartland Health Services will provide health coverage information, census information and open enrollment materials for health care plans.
