PEORIA, Ill. — A Woodford County man in his 80s was reported Wednesday as the most recent area resident to die while sick with COVID-19.
The man, according to Peoria City/County Health Department, lived in a long-term care facility and suffered from other diseases.
The man’s death was Woodford’s fifth COVID-related fatality and the area’s 55th. Peoria sat at 38 and Tazewell, 12.
The health department reported a total of 87 new cases.
57 people were in area hospitals with the virus, 17 of whom were in intensive care.
However, the tri-county’s hospitalization rate sat at just .4%.
