PEORIA, Ill. — Peoria firefighters responded at approximately 11:47 p.m. Saturday to a structure fire at 714 E. Maywood Avenue.
Fire Battalion Chief Clinton Kuhlman said crews found smoke coming from the doors and windows with a fire in the kitchen.
Residents of the home got out before crews arrived on the scene.
Kuhlman said the fire was put out in a matter of minutes, but it caused substantial damage to the kitchen area of the home.
The Red Cross was called in to assist the residents with temporary housing.
No injuries were reported.
The cause of the fire was unattended cooking.
