PEORIA, Ill. — The death of a Peoria County man in his 90s reported Wednesday by the Peoria City/County Health Department brought the area’s total COVID-19 fatality count to 51.
The agency said the male was not a resident of a long-term care facility.
Overall, 55 new cases were recorded during the Tuesday-Wednesday reporting period: 28 for Peoria County, 21 for Tazewell, and six for Woodford.
Tazewell County Health Department reported 20 of its previously recorded cases were transferred to other counties.
71 area residents were in hospitals with COVID. 18 of them were in intensive care.
The tri-county recovery rate dropped to just below 75%.
