SPRINGFIELD, Ill. — The Illinois Department of Public Health on Tuesday reported 1,492 new cases of COVID-19 across the state.
The agency also said 39 people throughout the state died during the Monday-Tuesday reporting period, including a female in Tazewell County in her 70s. The Tazewell County Health Department said the woman was the same person the department mistakenly reported on Monday as a female in her 80s.
The statewide positivity rate sat at 4.3%. 22,961 specimens were taken from Monday to Tuesday by labs throughout the state.
Among other statistics, 1,513 COVID patients throughout Illinois as of Monday night were hospitalized. 362 of those patients were in intensive care, and 146 were on ventilators.
