PEORIA, Ill. — Peoria Police officer Shawn Allen Wednesday announced his candidacy for Peoria City Clerk.
Allen made the announcement Wednesday in a video on his Facebook page.
“As a resident, I see the greatness our city can achieve,” said Allen. “I believe, as a community, we want to see our city succeed.”
“Yet, in light of these difficult times, we find ourselves left in the dark by our city government.”
Allen said in a statement on his website that one of his top priorities would be making sure all FOIA requests would begin and end with the City Clerk’s office.
“This current process, as it stands, presents to be complex, confusing, and not resident friendly,” said the statement.
Allen also voiced his desires to bridge the gap between residents and access to information as well as streamline voter registration in Peoria.
