PEORIA, Ill. — Tazewell County as of Wednesday broke the 1,000 COVID-19 case mark, according to the Illinois Department of Public Health.
The county reported 21 new cases between Tuesday and Wednesday, bringing it to 1,002 since the start of the pandemic.
Tazewell, along with Peoria and Woodford Counties, had a combined 57 new cases during the reporting period.
There were good pieces of news.
The area’s recovery rate jumped up a whopping 5%, to 69.5%. Consequently, the home isolation rate fell dramatically, to 27.5%, marking a 5.3% decrease.
Additionally, the area’s hospitalizations fell by double digits.
61 people with the virus were in medical facilities as of Tuesday. Wednesday, that fell to 48.
16 of the 48 were in intensive care.
