PEORIA, Ill. — Peoria, Woodford, and Tazewell Counties notched 197 new cases of COVID-19 over the weekend, to go along with eight additional hospitalizations on top of Friday’s count.
Of the 197 new cases, Peoria County accounted for 106. Tazewell saw 75 new cases, and Woodford reported 16.
Meanwhile, intensive care bed usage for the virus increased to 13 from 12. Non-ICU beds in use increased to 42 from Friday’s 35.
The area’s recovery rate went down to 61.5%. Home isolation went up to just above 35%.
One point of potential concern for Region 2, the area that encompasses the tri-county: the seven-day rolling average for test positivity sat at six days, meaning there’s been an increase in the rate of people testing positive for the virus in six days of the most recent seven-day reporting period.
A region goes into the “red” when there have been seven days of increased positivity. Region four (East St. Louis area) was experiencing nine days of increased positivity, and mitigation measures such as limited capacity and early closing times of bars and restaurants were being implemented in the reigon.
