SPRINGFIELD, Ill. — Illinois is giving 2.5 million masks to public schools across the state, since they are required for students to return to the classroom.
State Board of Education Spokesperson Jackie Matthews wants to make sure everyone has access to a mask.
“Every child and every staff member, from custodians to teachers, to substitute teachers and lunchroom workers, they are going to have the PPE and equipment they need to return to school this fall,” Matthews said.
Illinois schools can request additional P-P-E such as gowns, hand sanitizer and face shields from the state.
