SPRINGFIELD, Ill. — Exactly one week after the last time Illinois experienced over 2,000 cases of COVID-19, the Illinois Department of Public Health reported another such case count.
IDPH said 2,264 people received positive test results in the 24-hour reporting period between Thursday and Friday.
25 people also died from the virus in that period.
The state’s rolling seven-day positivity rate went back up to 4.1%. 49,541 people were tested during the reporting period.
1,612 hospital beds were being occupied throughout the state by people with COVID or COVID-like symptoms. 345 were in emergency rooms and 126 were on ventilators.
The high numbers helped to prompt Gov. J.B. Pritzker on Friday to issue a warning level for 14 counties: Bureau, Cass, Clinton, Franklin, Greene, Grundy, Hancock, Jefferson, Kane, LaSalle, Moultrie, Perry, Union, and Will.
