SPRINGFIELD, Ill. — The Illinois Department of Public Health on Thursday reported 24 deaths across the state from COVID-19, including a Tazewell County man in his 80s.
There were 1,834 newly reported cases of the virus, as the state passed the 200,000 mark for total cases since the start of the pandemic. 200,427 people have tested positive since the first recorded state case in March.
Laboratories throughout the state reported taking in 46,006 specimens to test for the virus.
On an encouraging note, the rolling seven-day positivity rate went down to 4%. This marked the second time in the week that metric ticked downward.
1,628 people were said to be in hospitals throughout the state with the virus. 383 were in intensive care, and 127 were on ventilators.
