SPRINGFIELD, Ill. — Over 42,000 people were tested for COVID-19 during the Tuesday-to-Wednesday 24-hour reporting period, according to the Illinois Department of Public Health.
IDPH said labs across the state took in 42,098 specimens. 1,645 people in that time period received positive test results.
The virus has claimed the lives of 16 more Illinoisans.
The state’s rolling seven-day positivity rate sat at 4.1%.
1,525 people statewide were in hospitals. 357 of them were in intensive care, while 129 were on ventilators.
