PEORIA, Ill. — The coronavirus has taken the life of a Peoria County woman in her 40s.
The woman, who the Peoria City/County Health Department said died between Tuesday and Wednesday in an area hospital, had comorbidities at the time of her death.
In addition to being the county’s 34th death and the area’s 45th death from the virus, she was also the area’s youngest to die from the virus.
This marked the second consecutive day the health department reported a local death.
The 24-hour case count was 83, and hospitalizations rose.
The count as of Tuesday was 48. Wednesday’s count was 54.
Of those, 14 were in intensive care. The other 40 were of a non-ICU level.
The area’s recovery rate fell a percentage point, to 61%, the home isolation rate rose a percentage point, to 35%, and the hospitalization rate remained relatively unchanged, at just below 2%.
