PEORIA, Ill. — An East Peoria motorcyclist has died after fleeing from an East Peoria Police Officer attempting to stop him for speeding.
The individual, 25-year-old Craig B. Spurlock, Jr, of East Peoria, was involved in an accident with a vehicle after evading the officer and crossing into Peoria. He was transported to OSF Saint Francis Medical Center in Peoria in grave condition.
The vehicle involved in the accident with Spurlock left the scene after the accident occurred.
Spurlock fled from the officer attempting to stop him on the Cedar Street Bridge at approximately 11:13 p.m. on Saturday, August 8th when he continued on the bridge and crossed into Peoria City.
Spurlock was pronounced dead at OSF at 11:54 p.m. Autopsy results show that Spurlock suffered multiple blunt force trauma injuries according to Peoria County Coroner Jamie Harwood.
“On impact, he was unresponsive,” said Harwood. “[Spurlock] passed away shortly thereafter.”
Harwood added that the driver of the vehicle that left the scene had not yet been located by Illinois State Police.
The case remains under investigation by the Illinois State Police.
