ROSEMONT, Ill. — The Big Ten voted Monday none of its member schools will play football in the fall of 2020.
By a 12-2 vote, university presidents decided the coronavirus concern was just too great to hold games. Iowa and Nebraska were the only two schools that voted to play.
The conference became the second FBS conference to cancel its slate of games.
The Mid American Conference on Saturday became the first.
Big Ten officials had not confirmed whether or not they would reschedule the games for the springtime, as MAC officials had announced they would do. That information will likely be released during Tuesday’s formal announcement.
