SPRINGFIELD, Ill. — After over two months of a coronavirus case count under 2,000, the state of Illinois on Saturday saw its second consecutive day above that mark.
The Illinois Department of Public Health said 2,190 Illinoisans between the reporting periods of Friday and Saturday received positive test results.
18 people passed away from the virus during that time.
48,016 specimens were taken at labs across the state, as the rolling seven-day positivity rate rose yet again, to 4.2%.
1,538 hospital beds across the state were being occupied by COVID patients. 338 of those beds were in intensive care units, while 125 ventilators were being used.
