The PPD took into custody 23-year-old Devonte P. Thompson after detectives were tipped off Thursday afternoon around noon to his whereabouts.
During an investigation surrounding the shooting, which took place in the 1700 block of N. Great Oak Rd., Thompson became a person of interest.
He was nabbed without incident on charges of first degree murder and possession of a weapon by a felon.
“He was actually arrested for a Department of Corrections parole warrant,” said Public Information Officer Amy Dotson.
Dotson said detectives were not immediately releasing information regarding the site of Thompson’s arrest.
Thompson remained in Peoria County Jail.
