PEORIA, Ill. — The weekend COVID-19 death of a Peoria County woman in her 50s brought the area’s death toll to 42.
Meanwhile, Peoria, Tazewell, and Woodford County over the weekend combined for over 100 new COVID-19 cases.
The exact number of new cases was 109.
The area’s recovery rate dropped to just about 65%, while almost 30% of cases were in home isolation, and 2% were in area hospitals.
Of the 28 people in area hospitals, ten were in intensive care units with confirmed or suspected cases. The other 18 were not considered severe enough to be in ICUs.
After announcing Sunday the Tazwood testing site in Pekin would close on Wed., Jul. 29, the Peoria City/County Health Department announced the testing site at the health department would cease operations after Aug. 1.
A change concerning the East Bluff location was also announced.
The site will be open Monday through Friday starting Aug. 3 from 9 A.M. until 4 P.M., and Saturdays from 9 A.M. to 1 P.M. Appointments at that facility from that point forward will not be taken.
