SPRINGFIELD, Ill. — While Sunday brought another day of over 1,000 reported COVID-19 cases to Illinois, it also delivered a milestone.
Illinois Department of Public Health said one death was reported between Saturday and Sunday, to go along with 1,541 new cases.
The one death — a Bond County man in his 90s — marked the lowest 24-hour statewide death toll since March 18, when there were no deaths to report.
40,844 specimens were taken at labs across the state over the reporting period.
The statewide rolling seven-day positivity rate rose to 3.7%.
1,394 throughout the state were in hospitals with the virus. 345 were in intensive care units, while 119 were on ventilators.
