SPRINGFIELD, Ill. — The Illinois Department of Public Health on Friday announced another large batch of COVID-19 cases over a 24-hour reporting period.
The 1,532 new cases, while not as large as Thursday’s count, still signified an upward trend in cases, as the IDPH reported case counts above 1,000 all but one day this week.
19 people died from the virus during that time.
Labs across the state reported a total of 44,330 specimens taken over the 24-hour period, for a new record.
The rolling seven-day positivity rate sat at 3.4%.
