PEORIA, Ill. — A Peoria County centenarian lost her life over the weekend to COVID-19.
The woman in her 100s was not a long-term care facility resident.
Alongside the sad news of the area’s 41st COVID-related death, there was also an encouraging sign that developed during the weekend.
The North-Central Region’s rolling 28-day hospitalization rate saw an improvement to 15%.
While that number is still below the line of where it needs to be to keep phase three of Restore Illinois at bay, it’s an improvement over the 33% the area saw as of the end of last week.
Ten intensive care unit beds were in use for the virus, with four for possible cases and six for confirmed cases.
24 non-ICU beds were in use for COVID-19.
