PEORIA, Ill. – 13 people were shot early Sunday morning at Peoria’s Riverfront.
Peoria Police responded at 4:41 a.m. to Water and Hamilton on reports of a large fight.
Upon arrival, officers discovered a gathering of close to 200 people that quickly dispersed.
“Two victims were located on-scene, an adult male with a gunshot wound to the neck and adult female with a gunshot wound to the back. Both victims were transported to a local hospital with serious injuries,” Dotson said.
11 other people arrived independently at area hospitals with gunshot wounds. Their injuries were non-life-threatening.
A total of six males and seven females were injured.
“Investigators have determined there were multiple people firing weapons. The incident occurred as a result of a dispute among groups of people gathered at the Riverfront,” Dotson said.
Peoria Police have no suspects at this time.
The incident remains under investigation.
