SPRINGFIELD, Ill. — Not only did Friday mark a third straight day of over 1,000 COVID-19 cases throughout Illinois, but it also marked a third straight day of an increase over the previous day.
The Illinois Department of Public Health reported 1,384 cases, up from Thursday’s 1,257. Thursday’s number was up from Wednesday’s 1,187.
Another trend potentially starting was the amount of tests administered throughout the state.
After Thursday marked a record-high for specimens taken over a 24-hour period, with 43,006, Friday set the record yet again, with 43,692.
IDPH attributed this number to the number of mobile testing sites being deployed.
22 additional deaths were reported.
1,431 residents of the state were in hospitals because of COVID-19. 309 were in intensive care, while 128 ventilators were in use for the virus.
The state’s positivity rate decreased marginally, to 3.0%.
