SPRINGFIELD, Ill. — Another trend of four-digit COVID-19 case counts for Illinois has seemingly begun.
For the second straight day, the Illinois Department of Public Health reported over 1,000 new cases, statewide, with 1,257.
IDPH reported four-digit counts Thursday through Saturday of last week, and then broke the streak with three straight days of cases under 1,000.
The department also reported 25 new coronavirus deaths, bringing the toll since the start of the pandemic to 7,251.
State labs took from Wednesday to Thursday took in 43,006 specimens, a new 24-hour high.
The rolling seven-day positivity rate sat at 3.1%.
1,434 Illinoisans were in hospitals across the state because of COVID symptoms. Of those, 311 were in intensive care units, while 127 required ventilators.
