PEORIA, Ill. — The Peoria area continued Tuesday to teeter on the cusp of being moved back to phase three of Restore Illinois, as the Peoria City/County Health Department reported 25 tri-county residents remained hospitalized for COVID-19 reasons, a number unchanged from Monday.
The Illinois Department of Public Health website showed the North-Central Region holding at a -3% hospital admission change over the last 28 days.
Should the number tick upwards and pass the zero mark, that would mean the region was no longer meeting one of the required metrics to stay in phase four.
Two confirmed cases were in area intensive care units with the virus. 23 cases were in non-ICU hospital beds.
39 new cases were reported from Monday to Tuesday.
In total, 204 Peoria County cases were in home isolation, while 11 were hospitalized. Another 466 have recovered.
33 Tazewell County residents were recovering from the virus at home, and one resident was in a hospital. 143 Tazewell County cases have recovered.
Woodford County reported no new cases.
For the area as a whole, the recovery rate dropped a percentage point, to just over 68%. 26% of people were recovering at home, and close to 2% of people were hospitalized.
