SPRINGFIELD, Ill. — For the second straight day, the Illinois Department of Public Health reported over 1,000 COVID-19 cases.
Statewide, 1,317 cases were reported from Thursday to Friday, the most since June 2, when over 1,600 were recorded.
25 people have died during the most recent reporting period.
151,767 cases and 7,144 deaths have been reported, overall.
Labs across the state took in 32,987 specimens, bringing the state’s number of tests administered to 1,911,743.
The seven-day rolling positivity rate has jumped from 2.6% to 2.9%.
1,436 Illinoisans were in the hospital with coronavirus. 306 ICU beds were being occupied, and 155 ventilators were being used.
Even with a recent surge in cases, all metrics in all regions of the state remained at or above satisfactory levels for staying at phase four of Restore Illinois, except for one.
In the Central Region (the Springfield area), the rolling 28-day hospital admission percentage had increased by 53%.
If that stat doesn’t improve by the end of July, that region could be placed back into phase three.
