SPRINGFIELD, Ill. — For the first time since June 4-5, Illinois has broken the 1,000 COVID-19 case mark over a 24-hour period.
The Illinois Department of Public Health reported a count of 1,018 for the Wednesday-Thursday reporting period. 36,180 people were tested.
There were also 20 deaths recorded during that time.
Thursday’s case count brought the state to 150,450 since the dawn of the pandemic, with 7,119 deaths.
The rolling seven-day positivity rate remained at 2.6%.
1,507 Illinoisans were in hospitals with the virus, 317 of whom where in intensive care. 153 COVID-19 patients across the state required ventilators.
The last time the thousand-case mark was broken was June 5, with 1,156 reported.
