PEORIA, Ill. — A police presence in the East Bluff.
Peoria Police on Wednesday, July 8, opened a new Police Resource Center in the 2300 block of N. Wisconsin in the former Kroger building, now owned by Heartland Health Services.
Peoria Police Chief Loren Marion said the new Resource Center is a partnership between Heartland Health and the PPD that’s been two years in the making.
“They’d talked about putting a location up on the East Bluff in the old Kroger. And, we’d like to partner with the police department and put a neighborhood office up in that area,” Marion said.
Marion said it’s not a police substation, it’s a community resource center for the residents of the East Bluff.
“It’s a multi-purpose center. It will not be staffed 24 hours a day, seven days a week, however, it will be accessible by the police officers 24 hours a day, seven days a week,” Marion said.
Community services at the Resource Center will include education, job training, computer training, employment opportunities, alcohol and drug treatment, mental health treatment, emergency counseling, health services (with Heartland Health Services), a food pantry, transportation and indentification services.
Residents will be able to call a number posted on the front door of the Resource Center if an officer isn’t present.
