PEORIA, Ill. — A Peoria County woman in her 70s succumbed over the 4th of July weekend to COVID-19. The woman was not a long-term care facility resident.
Her death brought the county’s death toll to 29. The tri-county total rose to 39, as Tazewell remained at eight and Woodford remained at two.
Since the start of the pandemic, Peoria County has seen 565 cases. 62 of those cases were newly-reported over the weekend.
In addition to the 29 deaths, 98 of the cases were in home isolation, and eight were hospitalized.
The rest were considered to be fully recovered.
107 of Tazewell County’s 148 cases as of Monday had recovered. 30 were in home isolation and three were in hospitals.
Woodford was reporting a total of 36 cases since testing began, giving the tri-county a total of 749 overall cases.
The area’s recovery rate stood at 75.8%, while the home isolation rate was 17.5% and 1.5% of tri-county cases were in hospitals.
Two area ICU beds were in use for confirmed cases.
