I’ve seen these and was always intimated to make one. It seemed like a lot went into them!
However, after reading this article from pagingfunmums.com, they broke it down to make it much simpler.
What you’ll need:
- A flat section of grass or decking close to a hose. It’s imperative it’s level or the blob will run down the hill. .
- Scissors
- Duct tape
- Baking paper
- Hair Straigtener
- Clear plastic sheeting. You can get this at a hardware store. This blogger used sheets that were 2 meters wide and cost $1.80 per meter (I used 4 meters = $7.20).
Instructions:
- Fold the plastic in half to give you a 2 x 2 meter square. Then fold a strip of baking paper in half lengthways (aprox 80cm in length). Place the folded paper over to join at the fold of plastic.
- Clamp the heated hair straightener over the folded paper and gradually move along the folded paper. ***WARNING*** The plastic will be very hot where you have sealed it – wait for it to cool for aprox 20secs before moving the paper along to the next section. You should be able to see clearly where your plastic has been melted together.
- Continue to work your way around the plastic joins until you reach the final corner, you will need to leave a 3cm hole to feed the hose into your plastic pocket. Once completed, give the plastic a thorough look-over to see if there are any holes.
- Now to fill up your blob…Start by adding some blue food coloring (aprox 20ml), then insert the hose and watched it fill. The kids might like watching the blue food coloring spread!
- Remove the hose once filled and secure the hole with duct tape!
