TAZEWELL COUNTY, Ill. — A suspected drunk driver caused a four-vehicle crash Thursday night in East Peoria.
Tazewell County Sheriff Deputy Tim Gillespe said a Fon du Lac Park District and Tazewell County Deputy’s squad cars were damaged.
“Nobody was hurt, and the Illinois State Police are doing a traffic investigation,” Gillespe said.
Police were searching for three missing individuals around 9:15 p.m. when the intoxicated driver drove into a ditch off Bittersweet Lane near Farmdale Road, came back on the pavement, and hit the two squad cars and another vehicle.
The police officers were out of their squad cars at the time of the crash.
The driver of the fourth vehicle, who was at the scene to pick up the missing persons, was inside their car, but wasn’t hurt.
Illinois State Police arrested the suspected drunk driver at the scene.
