SPRINGFIELD, Ill. — Just Tuesday, the Peoria City/County Health Department said it was unsure when the COVID-19 testing site at Peoria Civic Center would reopen.
They said Illinois Emergency Management Agency had said nothing about reopening community-based testing sites.
In a quick turnaround, the Illinois Department of Public Health on Wednesday said the sites will reopen immediately, including the one at Peoria Civic Center.
The sites had been closed because of the recent rioting and looting.
All individuals with symptoms are encouraged to get tested, but special accommodations are made for healthcare workers, first responders, correctional facility workers, people exposed to confirmed cases, essential employees, governmental workers, and people with compromised immune systems.
