PEORIA, Ill. — A male Peoria County resident in his 50s has passed away from COVID-19, reported the Peoria City/County Health Department during Friday’s daily briefing.
The man was reported as having multiple underlying conditions. He did not reside at a long-term care facility.
That raised Peoria County’s death toll from COVID-19 to seven, while Tazewell remained at three and Woodford remained at two.
The recovery rate remained at 83%.
10% of cases were in home isolation, and 3% were hospitalized.
Seven area hospital ICU beds were being occupied by COVID-19 cases; two for suspected cases and five for confirmed cases.
Health Administrator Monica Hendrickson announced expanded testing would be distributed next week to area long-term care facilities.
Hendrickson said the North Central Region had a 6.8% positivity rate, a decrease over the past 14 days.
“The med-surg, ICU bed, and ventilator availability position our region to move into the next phase of Restore on May 29,” she said.
