CHICAGO, Ill. — Dr. Ngozi Ezike said the Illinois Department of Public Health gets updated information out as quickly as possible.
Ezike announced there are 2,887 new cases of COVID-19 in Illinois. That brings the state’s total to 73,760 positive cases.
There were 130 additional deaths reported over the span of 24 hours, adding up to 3,241 total lives lost in Illinois to the virus.
Gov. J.B Pritzker said for the first time Illinois exceeded 20,000 tests in one day, which is a good sign that testing is available.
244 testing sites are up across the state. 22 are in the Peoria region.
An additional three drive-thru testing sites will be added next week, the locations have not been announced.
Additional swabs and vials will be delivered to Illinois on Sunday.
