PEORIA,Ill. — The runs must go on!
Co-Founder of the St. Jude Runs, Mike McCoy, talked with all 3,200 runners over the weekend about changes that have to be made due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
McCoy told WMBD’s Greg and Dan, the virus can’t stop this year’s runs benefiting St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital in Memphis.
“There’s going to be runs in every city. There’s going to be a Memphis to Peoria Run, except we’re not going to be in Memphis, and we’re not going to run to Peoria,” McCoy said.
There will be a virtual send-off for the Memphis To Peoria Run on Tuesday, July 14 at the Affiliate Office in Peoria.
“Then we’ll have a virtual send-off from Memphis. We’re asking all the runners to run their miles on Saturday, the 18th of July,” McCoy said.
All satellite runners will log their miles in their hometown on the same day. That’s typically when they would converge on the Peoria Civic Center for the telethon on 25 News that benefits St. Jude’s.
