CHICAGO – Illinois officials have stressed to local authorities to crack down on those holding house parties during the extension of the stay-at-home order.
During Gov. J.B. Pritzker’s Sunday briefing in Chicago, the governor was made aware of a shooting in Peoria that left one man dead after a gathering of 200 people.
Pritzker stated to the people in Peoria that there is a reason why these orders are forward.
“It’s to keep people safe, because the virus has no boundaries,” he said.
“So we won’t know really for a couple of weeks how many people in Peoria have gotten sick because people were irresponsible and got together.”
Pritzker also added that he was sorry to hear about the violence that took place due to the gathering in Peoria.
Peoria Police continue to investigate the shooting on Peoria’s south side. Another man sustained life-threatening injuries in the event.
