CHICAGO — The Illinois Department of Human Services is offering three-month advances and more than $1 million in additional funding to provide enhanced support to people who have experienced domestic violence during the COVID-19 pandemic.
“For those experiencing domestic violence, staying at home is often not the safest option. As these families spend more time together under the stay-at-home guidelines, violence in homes may escalate, becoming more frequent, severe, and dangerous,” said Gov. J.B. Pritzker.
The program has stepped up with more alternative housing initiatives, transportation assistance, food, and supplies.
“I’m dedicated, personally, to moving us toward an Illinois where all residents can live free from domestic violence,” he said.
