PEORIA, Ill. — Virtual graduation ceremonies are taking shape for all three Peoria Public Schools high schools.
Michelle Hassan, Director of High Schools with PPS, said the district was worked hard to mirror traditional graduation as much as possible.
Each virtual graduation will begin and end with “Pomp and Circumstance,” and Superintendent Dr. Sharon Desmoulin-Kherat will address the graduates.
“At graduation, she doesn’t necessarily always speak. But, at this time, we want to make sure they know how proud she is of them,” Hassan said.
The principals of Peoria High, Manual and Richwoods High Schools will also speak at graduation, as will student speakers.
Each graduate will be shown during a video wearing their cap and gown.
“With acknowledgements regarding activities they participated in. And, any honors that they’re being awarded. Students also have the option of having their favorite quote shown on their slide,” Hassan said.
PPS graduates are being given a secure link to watch their virtual graduation at home with family and friends on Saturday, May 16. The graduations will also be streamed live.
Hassan said graduation for Peoria High School will be held at noon. Graduation for Peoria Manual High will be at 2 p.m. And, graduation for Richwoods High School will be at 4 p.m.
